New videos for the Euro challenge 2010 competition

We would like to draw your attention to several new videos we have posted on this website in preparation for the 2010 Euro challenge competition. Students, teachers, and Euro challenge organizers speak about their own experiences and give you an insight into what the Euro challenge is all about. We hope that you will find these videos fun and useful for preparing for the next competition!

Congratulation to 2009’s Euro Challenge winning teams

We are pleased to congratulate students from Montclair High School in Montclair, NJ for winning the first place in this year’s Euro Challenge competition.

We also congratulate the other four finalists :

  • 2nd place: North Allegheny Intermediate High School in Pittsburgh, PA
  • 3rd place: High School for Math, Science & Engineering in New York, NY
  • 4th place: International Academy Central High School in Bloomfield Hills, MI
  • 5th place: George W. Hewlett High School in Hewlett, NY

And congratulation as well to the 20 other semi-finalists and all the teams that got involved into the 2009 Euro Challenge competition. We hope that you all had a great experience.

Preliminary round - Congratulations to NC/PA winning team

We would like to congratulate North Allegheny High School’s team from Pennsylvania for winning the North Carolina and Pennsylvania preliminary round on March 30th/April 1st, 2009.

We would like to congratulate Barbara Goleman Senior High School’s team, Coral Reef Senior High School’s team and Miami Palmetto Senior High School’s team for winning the Florida preliminary round on April 1st, 2009. We would like to thank all other teams for taking part to the 2009 Euro Challenge competition, hoping it was a great experience for you.

We are excited to know that that the Florida round was filmed by the Miami NBC affiliate.  Pictures from the day are also up on the Miami EU Center website.

We would like to congratulate Lake Forest High School’s team and Mundelein High School’s team for winning the Illinois preliminary round on March 31st, 2009 and to thank other teams for taking part of the 2009 Euro Challenge competition. We hope you had a great time.

Student Orientation at the Florida International University

The European Union Center of Excellence at the Florida International University will hold an introductory seminar for students participating in the 2009 Euro Challenge. Nigel Nagarajan, Head of the Economic and Financial Affairs section at the European Commission Delegation to the USA, will introduce the Euro Challenge, the European Union and EMU and answer questions to interested participants.

The University of Pittsburgh and the European Commission Delegation to the USA will hold a seminar to introduce the Euro Challenge, the European Union and EMU to teachers in Pennsylvania.

Winner of the 2008 Euro Challenge is Rumson-Fair Haven High School, NJ!

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

46 high schools from seven different states competed in the 2008 Euro Challenge. Congratulations to Rumson-Fair Haven High School (NJ), the Euro Challenge winners. Each team member was awarded a cash prize of $1,500, generously provided by the Moody’s Foundations.

Montclair High School (NJ) came second, with each team member winning $1,000. Mt. Saint Mary’s Academy (NJ) won the third prize - $750 per student, and East Hampton High School (CT) received an honorable mention, with prizes of $500 awarded to each team member.

The four winning teams beat teams from 12 other high schools on the last day of the competition hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The awards reception was hosted by the Moody’s Foundation, at Moody’s Downtown Manhatten headquarters. John Bruton, Ambassador of the European Union to the United States delivered a keynote speech, and Fran Laserson, President of the Moody’s Foundation, presented the awards to the winning teams.
